I’m a single mom with a fabulous (of course) but oh-so-normally annoying (also of course) Little Man. We have 2 cats – brothers/littermates – Alexander & Beauregard.
I taught myself to knit 2 years ago, with some occasional help from my knitting mentor. She’s a pilot’s wife, which means that several days a week she’s a single mom of 4 girls – so she’s got extremely limited time! I also taught myself to crochet around about the same time.
I love yarn, and according to the Yarn Harlot’s definitions, I am most definitely a process knitter. Although at times, I’m also a product knitter. But mostly a process knitter – I have no trouble ripping something back when I change my mind about what I want, or if I find a mistake.
Before I ever had heard of the Yarn Harlot (gasp!) I used to tell my knitting mentor I wanted to open a store in our area and call it the Yarn Floozy. Now, I’d probably have to go with another name – but I still wish I was in ANY sort of position to do it. Cause spending all day playing with yarn (whether anything got finished or not!), talking to people who also love yarn and the myriad of ways to make it and materials to make it from, and put it together, etc….. Yeh. To have that be my “job”. That’s the dream, baby.
(funny aside – I also told Heidi (my knitting mentor) one day recently that I wish there was an all you can eat mexican buffet, and that maybe I’d just have to open one. She suggested I combine it with the yarn store and call it “Paco Taco’s Yarn Barn”. )
I live in the South (of the United States), and kind of hate it. (not the South – just where I currently live). Those who know me are aware I’ve jokingly talked about moving to the Cook Islands. Those who know me well – realize it’s not so much of a joke….. (and as pointed out by some – there are probably very few yarn stores in the Cook Islands – which really – just means they need one……)
